Fly Tying Workshop (ES テ)
The inaugural event in our tenkara academy went extremely well. With expert instructors from Rocky Mountain Anglers and CU, the kids had no trouble learning how to make the San Juan worm and the sakasa kebari. Thanks is also due to the ICO volunteers who were students of fly tying, themselves, but who helped the kids sitting next to them work through the tricky spots in each of the patterns. It was great to see the kids get so excited about tying and fishing. The tenkara academy is off to a great start!
Learn how to make the lures that will be used in the fly fishing that we will do later in the year. It's suprisingly fun and easy! In this free workshop for our elementary school partners, participants will make and keep lures that they will use when fishing later in the year. Priority will be given to children who enroll in our tenkara fly fishing academy that teaches fly tying, fly fishing, stream ecology, and fishing etiquette. Academy graduates will have the opportunity to purchase a complete, high-quality tenkara fly fishing kit for $50. To enroll in the tenkara academy please complete the enrollment form found here. A separate permission slip for this outing must also be completed.
