Big Thompson River Restoration

We returned from our trip, Big Thompson River Restoration, on Saturday, April 30 2016.

Despite the cold, wet weather, we had fun and planted lots of trees to help restore the riparian habitat. The kids worked really hard! Thanks to Mariko for preparing lunch and Joni for scoring the hot chocolate and cookies. Thanks, too, to Synergy and volunteers from Boulder Open Space, who organized and led the balance of the event.

Trip departure and return dates and time:
Saturday, April 30 2016 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Trip Description:

The Big Thompson River habitat was seriously damaged during the floods of 2013. Now, owing to a collaboration between local land owners, the City of Loveland, Rocky Mountain Flycasters, Colorado Trout Unlimited, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, and Boulder Valley ICO, volunteers will help restore the area by sewing seeds, saplings, and shrubs.  Participation in this event satisfies the requirement to participate in a service outing as part of the Boulder Valley ICO Tenkara Academy.  In addition to a BVICO permission slip, we will need a waiver for each participant. That waiver is available here.
