Backpacking in Canyonlands National Park, Utah!
Our annual spring backpacking sojourn in the ever-incredible Canyonlands National Park, this is where the scenery knocks your socks off and the echoes are grand. Beat the crowds and the heat by doing this one the ICO way.
This trip is challenging but scenic and rewarding. We will drive out to Utah on Friday, car camp for one night, and backpack in the Needles District for two nights. We will hike out Monday morning and drive home Monday afternoon. The backpacking distances are relatively short, but due to the terrain, compressed schedule, and special regulations around sanitation and fires, this trip is considered moderately difficult for participants and volunteers. The trip takes place over a mini-spring break of BVSD parent-teacher conferences. April is generally a great time of year to visit Canyonlands! This is a rippin' great trip for our art & journaling, and photography academies. This trip will require 2 certified leaders and 2 regular volunteers. The max group size is 14 (10 youth, 4 adults) and is strictly enforced. The roster will be determined at the pre-trip meeting. Attendance at the pre-trip meeting is required.
